In the beginning there was only Big Raven and his wife floating in the darkness. Big Raven liked their peaceful life, but Big Ravens wife shared that she found this boring. She called Big Raven lazy and threatened to leave him. They argued and Big Raven’s wife took the matter into her own hands and transformed herself into a human.

Big Raven did not have the same magic to transform and watched his wife give birth to two children. The children laughed at their father and so he took one child on a journey. He taught his son the ways of the world.

Big Raven offered to make a world for his son and started to think of his wife. He cried and made the oceans. His son spoke about needing land to make a home. Big Raven defecated and it landed in the water making land. Upon landing on the earth his son requested that his father create animals and trees. So Big Raven asked his son to pull out feathers which when they landed made trees.

From the trees he made wood chips, and he threw them into the Ocean and air and from these chips came all the creatures of the earth. Big Raven saw that his son was lonely and so he talked to Clam who created two women. These were to be the wives of the two brothers.
